Lily By Red (or stylized "lilybyred") is a Korean drugstore makeup brand that exclusively sold in Korea's No.1 health and beauty chain store "OLIVE YOUNG" with a cute, simple, & colorful concept. They are available at Olive Young and also can be found in their IG lilybyred. The brand promotes a colorful packaging with simple design but so far haven't sign with any artist or idol for their ambassador.

 

There are so many Korean beauty brands that have the same concept but Korean buyer tends to be selective when it comes to quality; lilybyred is an underrated makeup product that often goes unnoticed because (tbh) their concept is similar with the other makeup (Etude House, Amuse, Romand or even US brand Too Faced).

Romantic Liar Mousse Tint is a velvety-matte lip product that promotes a soft, vivid color. There are 8 shades available, with net content 3,9gr, and comes in a matte rectangular tube with each color represented in its packaging. Retailed for Won 10.000, sold in offline & online Olive Young and also Ozml shop, Made in Korea.

My Verdict?

Blueberry Meringue is a carmine-red shade; the shade name is inspired by deep red-purple stain from Blueberry fruit but in reality it is similar to carmine-red / red plum color. Shade intensity looks intense but the velvety formula helps to glide the product and create ombre effect effortlessly. The shade & formula is dupe of Innisfree Vivid Cotton Ink 8.

The liquid matte texture dries down after couple minutes, medium to full coverage, and leaves a stain afterward. Longevity is expected to be long-lasting from a liquid matte lipstick and it does its job. It's one of must have product when you come and visit Olive Young in the future.

Shade: 754 Neutral light-beige

After certain period of time I found this foundation is kinda hit or miss. (Disclaimer: My skin condition is dry-sensitive and I live in a humid tropical country, commuting using public transport but spend most time inside AC room).

In terms of coverage and finishing, unlimited glow has buildable-coverage (you can adjust from sheer to medium look) and will give you a glowy result; just add loose powder if you want create a semi-matte look. The product comes in a runny-liquid texture and you can easily apply it with your finger, beauty blender or foundation brush. Unfortunately, the glow finishing tends to transform into oily look even after 2 hours. Based on my personal mini research using paper-oil, SHU UEMURA extracts a lot of oil residue when you applied the foundation into the paper-oil (you can check in my "mini review" tab in IG). Yes, it makes your skin looks plump and hydrated when first applied but after time goes by then it will produce a noticeable amount of oil and make your face looks greasy.

Meanwhile for its staying power the product (to be honest) doesn't stay well in my face :") my forehead and nose-corner starts to pile noticeable face-oil and can easily transfer to tissue/mask (especially during this pandemic period). In sum: this product delivers short-to-decent staying power.

Additional information for sunscreen geek out there, this foundation doesn't mix well when combined with a layer of sunscreen in advanced (I use Banana Boat daily wear), it tends to pile up and looks greasy on me.

For its available shades, the current darkest shade available in Indonesia is 544 but I bought 754 Medium Beige; 754 is a medium-light beige however it's still look too light on my medium skin tone. Even though there are 24 shades promoted but the Unlimited glow shades for medium-dark skin tone only limited to certain shades (e.g. 544 or 554). Unlimited glow oxidizes a bit but it doesn't bother me so much because the shade still stay true its freshly applied color.

Best use with your finger or dense foundation brush; to give more even and buildable results. Meanwhile, sponge result tends to give sheer look.

On the bright side, it is light-weight and you can easily remove it with micellar water or makeup remover. Unlimited glow is suitable for dry skin.

Random rant: I bought Unlimited Glow online from LAZADA ID and only rely on promotional swatch. 754 Medium Beige looks promising for redness-prone medium skintone (I'm between MAC 25-30), but when the product arrives 754 is way too lighter for my skintone. I browsed more info/swatch online and it turns out promotional swatch totally misleading. It looks varied & inclusive for deeper skintone but in reality it is not. Swatches above by SHU UEMURA Hong Kong is the CLOSEST to real color when it comes to shade swatches. 

Pro tips: try to peep on LAZADA ID store, they often give promo package or special price if you buy online ;)

Hai guys, aku mau share dua produk lokal yang sudah lama aku dapatkan sebagai Christmas gift 2020 lalu (udah lama yaaa post ini mengendap) yaitu ROYAL CARE. Ini pertama kalinya aku kenal Brand ini dan walaupun sudah aku coba cari di online shop manapun tapi tidak ada yang online shop yang menjualnya 😅... tapi setelah aku pakai sendiri Body Lotion-nya, I was impressed!, mantul banget: deeply moisturizing and fragrant.

Rangkaian ROYAL CARE ini dibawah lisensi PT Royal Natural Indonesia dan 1 set ini terdiri dari Body Lotion & Face Wash. Body Lotion-nya dikemas dalam pump bottle sehingga higienis dan gampang dipakai, sedangkan Face Wash-nya dikemas dalam flip bottle but tbh I found the cap a little bit annoying.

Ingredients (didominasi oleh Virgin Coconut Oil)

ROYAL CARE Body Lotion Geranium Essential Oil + Virgin Coconut Oil ini memiliki isi bersih 235 mL dan dikemas dalam botol pump sehingga lebih higienis. Body lotion ini sudah lulus standar uji BPOM dan uji Halal MUI. ROYAL CARE Body Lotion ini diperkaya dengan kandungan Geranium Oil & Coconut Oil yang melembabkan🥥🌺 tapi dari kandungan bahan bakunya lebih banyak kandungan Minyak Kelapanya daripada Minyak Geraniumnya, namun wangi bunga Geraniumnya lebih kuat. Teksturnya rich dan licin tapi sangat melembabkan terutama untuk dry or patched skin area seperti siku.

Sedangkan untuk ROYAL CARE Face Wash ini diperkaya dengan Geranium Oil yang digadang-gadang dapat menjaga kelembaban dan kehalusan kukit wajah. Teksturnya cair dan minim busa. Sayangnya, my sensitive skin can't befriend this Face Wash 😢 kulit wajahku sering terasa perih dan cekit-cekit setiap pakai produk ini (mungkin karena kandungan parfumnya yang terlalu tajam).

Kedua produk ini memiliki wangi bunga/floral yang kuat, walaupun untuk varian Body Lotionnya juga tercium wangi khas kelapa🥥mungkin tidak cocok untuk orang yang memiliki kulit sensitif. Rangkaian ROYAL CARE ini memiliki kualitas yang baik karena sudah teruji dan dilengkapi dengan sertifikasi Halal & POM NA 👍🏻namun sepertinya produknya tidak dijual bebas di pasaran/online shop manapun.

Overall, the Body Lotion is 2 thumbs up terutama jika kamu berada di ruangan AC dan memiliki , meanwhile for me the Face Wash nya is a pass...

In sum: the formula makes your skin plump instantly and doesn't leave sticky feeling, best use before (heavy) moisturizer.

KATE Powdery Skin Maker 04

All time fave, a holy grail: KATE Tokyo foundation is the best drugstore base makeup you should try.

Hello, how have you been? It's been 2-3 years since my last post and tbh I can find time to review some new products due to my hectic schedule at office. Things also have been going South due to Pandemic but I hope you are well and will enjoy enjoy my new post.

KATE Tokyo: The Base Zero Series, Powdery Skin Maker 04 is a must-have, holy grail Japanese drugstore makeup product.

The quality goes like high-end product but with a slate of price and won't broke your wallet.

Personally, this is my holy-grail Japanese drugstore foundation and I kept repurchasing it over 3 times; nothing can beat its quality.

Powdery Skin Maker is the upgrade version of previous Powderless Liquid for Cover: it has liquid-to-powder formula, matte finish but with longer staying power and better formula.

KATE Tokyo is licensed under Kanebo cosmetic and categorized as drugstore makeup; because it's sold and distributed in many drugstores and chain-stores in Japan. It is retailed for ¥1.600+ for 30mL product and formulated with SPF15 PA++ to help protecting your skin.

 

Currently, Indonesian consumer can only buy it through personal shopper in Japan:( since Shopee ID dismissed foreign seller to sell it in Indonesia platform.

KATE Tokyo also has been expanding their distribution network circa 2017 to several South-East & East-Asian countries (e.g. South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, etc) to penetrate deeply into local market. They also managed to provide inclusive (deeper) shades from common Japanese shades.

East-Asian brand is rarely launched darker shade (because deeper shade might not popular in their domestic market), but KATE Tokyo has 2 medium shades that (surprisingly) suitable for medium skin tone: 04 and 05.

04 : Early Tan (relatively tanned skin)

05 : Honey Beige (tanned skin)

KATE Tokyo launched The Base Zero campaign with Ayami Nakajo as their muse and promotes a formula that melts and matches to your skin with Zero effort and creates an effortless matte finish.

Powdery Skin Maker promotes quick matte result within 15 seconds; it dispersed as a liquid but turned powdery-matte when oxydized.

Both The Base Zero series products, Powdery Skin Maker (matte finish) and Secret Skin Maker Zero (semi-glow), comes in 6 shades varied from 00 (the lightest shade) to 06 (the deepest shade).

KATE Global Website || Face

I bought this foundation directly from South-Korean offline drugstore retailer (Olive Young); furthermore once I bought it also from Thailand offline drugstore retailer (Watson) & Taiwan online seller in Shopee; to my surprise deeper shades are available in these countries.

Retailed price might varied in each country but when I converted it to IDR it ranges around 250K+ (comparing to original retailed price in Japan ¥1.600+)

 

Powderless Liquid for Cover is no longer available and already re-formulated into Powdery Skin Maker.

However, I still have the previous product photos as brief comparison; as you can see Powderless Liquid for Cover (old version) comes in a short-tube packaging while new Powdery Skin Maker (new version) comes in a tall, edgy rectangle packaging. Both products are using pumped-tip and has 30mL liquid products.

Moving to its pigmentation, both products are categorized as the same shade spectrum 04 or OC-D. Since KATE re-formulated the product, they also change their shade spectrum into numbering sequence (e.g. 00 into 06). The old version was leaning more yellowish comparing to new formulated product. Imo, old version feels more light-weight comparing to new formula version: it blends easily into my skin and doesn't feel 'sticky' (new version feels a bit sticky imo). However, new version has better staying power and able to lasts up to 4 hours under normal wear and also able to cover uneven and dark spot better than the previous.

To sum it up:

Old version (Powderless Liquid for Cover):

- More light-weight texture

- Light-weight matte finish

- Doesn't get cakey easily

- Coverage medium

- Yellowish undertone

New version (Powder Skin Maker):

- Feels bit stickier than the previous

- Matte finish

- Get cakey easily if not blends well (especially under eyes wrinkles)

- Coverage medium-heavy

- Pinkish undertone

- Staying power up to 4 hours onward

- Can't mixed well with my compact powder (personal opinion)

Despite its ups and downs, I'm still relying on this product. I can tolerate its slight downside comparing to the other Secret Skin Maker Zero (it has even more stickier feeling, ugh) but I will try to review it when I have the chance.
