YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 01 Le Rouge (Kiss Edition)

Le Rouge is definitely a game changer.

Have you read my previous post of YSL RPC in 52 Rouge Rose? In short, I wasn't satisfy with the Rouge Rose color-wise; it's a tricky bright coral, if I might quote Emily from @paper_tigress "a white-based brights", that might look offensive for warm-tone skin (like mine). While RPC 52 Rouge Rose seems to enjoy its massive popularity in east-Asian market circa 2015, we barely forget that YSL has several preferred shades to enjoy for: 01 Le Rouge, 13 Le Orange, 70 Le Nu and universal flattering 09 Rose Stiletto, and so on.

Back to 2015 (Yes! Already that long time ago!) I decided to give it a shot to buy 01 Le Rouge from the Kiss & Love Collection as a collector item and turned to love it more than 52 Rouge Rose. YSL Kiss & Love Collection is a 2015 limited edition launch that only recap its 4 best shade to be exclusively designed with a red kissing mark all over its outer box and golden case, with additional kissing mark embossed within the bullet. The 4 chosen shades are 01 Le Rouge, 13 Le Orange, 19 Le Fuschia, and 70 Le Nude. It is retailed like the other permanent RPC, USD 36 or IDR 450.000 with 0.13 oz/3.8 g/3.8 ml net.

Le Rouge is YSL RPC trademark shade with a fiery red; a bright red which comes in warmer side.

Le Rouge is a classic red; a vibrant red which often seen in Indonesian traditional wedding.
***FYI, as you can see in the above photo the outer box of the packaging came as original or permanent design (without the kiss mark imprints), so please make note that common retailed items are sold with kiss imprints on it.

PHOTOS

A fiery red which perfectly epitomes a chili-red hue. Well, to be honest it almost looks similar with 52 Rouge Rose in terms of its satiny finish; a bright red which will reflect a faint light upon casting with direct lightning. The pigmentation is medium-opaque due to its creamy texture and has a creamy-satin finish. Longevity is normal up-to 3-4 hours before starts to fade away. The rest of comparison checklist like the packaging, case material, bullet material is basically the same with the permanent series so don't put too much expectation with YSL RPC Limited Edition collection: it's a permanent product encased in a special edition packaging.

COMPARISON

My Verdict?
I really love the formula of Le Rouge 01, it is more creamier and comfortable than the infamous Rouge Rose 52 imo. The red color is universally flattering even though it has faint white cast upon facing direct light. Le Rouge smears easily so keep it mind to outline outer lip liner before application or frame your lips with powder to lock the color. You can watch Pearypie's video below for more inspo when using the ultra-glam red, Le Rouge. xo

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in Nude in Private 09

Another high-end lipstick product from cult favorite YSL.

If you're taking by the storm of YSL RPC 52 Rosy Coral hype, you might take a look at another YSL lipstick product. In terms of its finish, texture, and not forgotten each unique packaging, YSL has 4 main lipstick line (which can be checked in their official YSL beauty website) :
  • Rouge Pur Couture: The iconic YSL lipstick
  • Rouge Volupté: A satiny and intense color YSL lipstick
  • Rouge Volupté Shine: The glossy version of YSL RV lipstick
  • Kiss and Blush: The dual-function lipstick and creamy blush-on product
According to YSL beauty web, "Introducing Rouge Volupté Shine. Give in to the temptation of dazzling color. Succumb to a unique sensorial experience with extreme comfort and luminous shine.  Hyaluronic acid microspheres help seal in moisture for 8 hours of hydration. Anti-oxidants and emollients help condition and soften lips." In short, I will consider it as the glossy version of Rouge Volupté. (Source)

It is equipped with formula:
  • Hyaluronic Acid Spheres
  • Moisturizing action emollients
  • Softening action
  • Softening action
  • Pomegranate extract
  • Antioxidant action
  • Candellila Resin
  • Protection
  • Mineral Pigments
  • Bright sheer color
Well packed in a luxurious sturdy gold rounded tube with its personalized shade carved in the middle part of tube. So, in case you're wondering which shade belongs to which, then just take a look at the shade in the middle part of tube or take a peek at the bottom of the tube for more precise info. Embellished YSL logo is paved around both RV & RVS tube; but I'm not sure how to differentiate between RV or RVS tube in a single glance. It's retailed at IDR 495.000, with Net Wt 4.5 gr and available throughout YSL beauty counter.

PHOTOS

Nude in Private no. 9 is a warm-nude shade with brown-red based color. It has noticeable shimmer in the tube and looks deeper in the bullet. It has a (strong) fruity-mango scent yet will evaporate after applied. However, RVS has weak pigmentation. You need to build up the color to desired amount especially for lighter shade. It's a troublesome for women with pigmented lips (like mine) since it's difficult to fully cover the lips since glossy texture like RVS has weak coverage and slightly transparent.

Furthermore, the different between YSL RV and RVS in terms of its texture is about the finish. RV has more satiny and opaque coverage than RVS, whereas RVS glides smoothly and likely won't create any dry patches or accentuate any lip lines but less even/opaque comparing to RV due to its semi-gloss texture. You can get slightly good color pay-off with RVS but not that opaque nor pigmented result like the other RV series.
Yes, it looks deeper in the tube but not that opaque after applied; a single swipe will give you a twist of color with glossy finish, but for deeper color you might build-up the color. You've been warned.

SWATCH
Nude in Private gives you a warm red-brown based nude shade with glossy finish and often considered as 'versatile nude that looks flattering on every skin-tone'. You won't see any noticeable shimmer upon swatch and the good news, this semi-gloss lipstick has similar finish with Rouge Coco Shine but with heavier texture (imho).

My Verdict?
To say or say nothing at all. I have love and hate relationship with YSL RVS: the pigmentation is so-so (or should I say it weak) and doesn't cover my pigmented lips very well. I had high expectation with the product since the color in the tube looks promisingly deep and expect a good, noticeable color pay-off upon application but turned out disappoint with the finish. Nude in Private washed out my face; it makes me looks pale due to its highly shimmery-glossy texture and it turns out the swatch is lighter than my natural lips color. Without further ado, I might suggest women with pigmented lips to choose either deeper shade or either way more bright-vivid shade to instantly lift up your whole appearance since RVS pigmentation is slightly weak due to its glossy-shimmery texture. Here is another review from Sabrina (who has similar pigmented lips like mine) for comparison. However, the new improved version of RVS or promoted as Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick said to have more improved and better color pay-off than the previous RVS series. More information of Oil-In-Stick can be checked out on the latest Sabrina post. Have you tried YSL RVS series before? What do you think about it? Comment below and for now I'll leave you with random doodles when I was playing around with other RVS shades at YSL counter. Hope you'll enjoy it!

YSL Rouge Pur Couture 52 Rosy Coral

"I think women should wear whatever makeup they want for themselves. Makeup should be fun." - Emma Stone

You may have know the lipstick's cult from K-Drama "My Love From the Star" which starring Gianna Jun as Cheon Song Yi that becomes hype for Asian women to impussively buy the similar product. Yes, it's Yves Saint Laurent: Rouge Pur Couture 52 Rosy Coral.

There's certain argument between what she wore on the drama; some said it's not precisely YSL but the cult holy worshiper (or certain amount of trend-follower) distinctly sure that it's unarguably YSL RPC 52. In the end, it's the vivid hot pink lip that should count as the fire-starter for Asian women to try ombre or bright shade lip like Candice Chen's wrote here *OMG, she's my make-up guru* and made YSL RPC 52 became sold out product in most of YSL counters. Furthermore, you can check the product from YSL beaute official website here.

The Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Coure 52 Rosy Coral (that's quite a name huh, I will sum it as "Rosy Coral") is :

A new-generation lipstick inspired by Monsieur Saint Laurent’s iconic color palette—red, fuchsia and orange—in a collection of captivating couture shades that offer each complexion a customized look. Lips are saturated with intense, stay-true color, thanks to the Coloreveal Technology while natural extracts provide comforting moisture that lasts all day. Provides medium to full coverage with a radiant, satin finish.

6 new shades designed by Lloyd Simmonds,Yves Saint Laurent International Makeup Artist, are: 31 Rose Fusain, 32 Pourpre Carmin, 33 Rouge Narcisse, 34 Brun Abstrait, 35 Rouge Vernis, and 36 Corail Legende

*Shade #52 is the same shade as Rosy Coral. The name changed to Rouge Rose in 2015
(A brief description from YSL Beaute official website)

In sum, the product itself is part of regular YSL Beaute shade that containing :

Octyldodecanol, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Stearyl/Ppg-3 Myristyl Ether Dimer Dilinoleate, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Polyethylene, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Polybutene, Propylene Glycol Dibenzoate, Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Titanium Dioxide, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Parfum (Fragrance), Caprylyl Glycol, Aqua (Water), Ammonium Glycyrrhizate, Mannitol , Polyurethane-15, Acacia Senegal Gum, Glyceryl Stearate, Lecithin, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Butylene Glycol, Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Extract , Yeast (Faex) Extract , Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Retinyl Palmitate, Citric Acid [+/- May Contain: Ci 77019 (Mica), Ci 77491 (Iron Oxide), Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 15850 (Red 7), Ci 15850 (Red 6), Ci 45410 (Red 28 Lake), Ci 77492 (Iron Oxide), Silica, Ci 19140 (Yellow 5 Lake), Ci 42090 (Blue 1 Lake), Ci 17200 (Red 33 Lake), Ci 75470 (Carmine), Ci 12085 (Red 36), Ci 77499 (Iron Oxide), Ci 15985 (Yellow 6 Lake), Ci 77742 (Manganese Violet), Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Ci 73360 (Red 30), Synthetic Fluorphlogopite.

It's a precious gift from my mom (Thanks Mom <3 ) during her recent trip back to Indonesia. When she first look for it in South Africa DFS, she said she can't find Rosy Coral as I request (she's the kind of woman who doesn't follow the trend, even she asked me what do I want instead of creating a little surprise) but finally got it in Hong Kong Airport DFS. When she was asking the SA, the SA immediately response "Oh, that's a popular shade among young lady", and she was like "Eh?" It's retailed for HKD 295 (or equals to Euro 35 as she calculated) with 3.8g / 3.8ml nett weight which she considered it as "more expensive than South Africa DFS which only retails for Euro 28, but unfortunately they don't have the shade you're looking for" and it makes me go "Meh."

Enough for our family affair, the product is encased in an extravagant gold-theme tube with YSL logo imprinted in it. The tube looks sleek with squared gold case and black-font YSL logo at one side of the tube. The bullet also has the YSL logo imprinted on it which more emphasizing the elegance of YSL beaute.

Dedicated this post for beloved Mom :*

The fire-starter (Cheon Song Yi in "My Love From the Star")

Rosy Coral 52
Yes, I can hear you. Rosy Coral looks gorgeous on the bullet. The color in the bullet is a delicate Coral-pink shade; a mix of Pink-Orange in a warm undertone with a hint of yellow. The pigmentation is opaque: a creamy-matte finish with a hint of shine, not gloss. The texture is satiny and leaves a stain afterward; the coverage is medium to full body. It has (hmm) a subtle flowery scent on it and lasts for up to 4 hours. Sadly, it accentuates dry patches and also drying up the lip. The shade looks similarly like watermelon shade on the bullet but the swatch will contrastingly show you.

SWATCH
The swatch on the hand wrist is more neon than in the bullet. Yes, it's more vibrant and vivid. It does look Coral-ish but with more pigment reflector that can make your skin looks contrasted with the lip color. It covers the entire surface perfectly in just a single swipe (indicated with "1" sign above) and even more pigmented in 2 strokes. The color fades after rubbed using facial tissue but still leaves subtle stain on the surface.
 Full lips

Vs

Lip balm + Full Lips

My Verdict?
The Coral-Pink shade is utterly gorgeous. However, I should say that the creamy-shine texture bit disappointing because bright or vivid shade is kinda tricky and RPC creamy-shine texture does accentuate dry patches. All I can say that this shade seems more appropriate for more fair-tone (MAC NC15-20) or yellow-based tone women comparing to medium-tone like mine. It works well for women with fair skin, light-tone and moist lip, so, before apply this product don't forget to put gobs of lip balm beforehand. However, a little trick goes along the way; lip gloss saves the day. If you too shy to wear vivid shade then try to gradate it like Korean ombre lip style or stained look. Frankly, the price is tad expensive somehow (hahaha) but the quality fails to impress me; it dries out the lip. Yet having an "it" item at the moment never hurts anybody and the color wise considerably worth for collectible item. What do you think? Do share your comment below ♥

Recently having a breakdown atm and I should say Cheon Song Yi expression really depicts current moods :))

MORE INSPIRATIONS
Of course she looks good, she has incredibly awesome fair skin -,-
